Ryan's Star Wars LEGO Birthday Party
WOW! Have we had a busy week! As my mom says, we tend to have "birthday weeks" around here. We just try to make each child feel very special and very loved! Ryan celebrated his 5th birthday with a Star Wars LEGO birthday party. He had 5 boys over...oh, and 2 girls for Reagan and Riley. Always thinking of his sisters! This was Ryan's first REAL birthday party with friends and he was SO excited. We had a great time eating pizza and hot dogs, playing in the jump house and on the slip-n-side. We had planned on water balloons, but when Paul & I kept throwing them really hard on the ground and we couldn't bust them, we decided that little 4 & 5 year old boys didn't need to get all bruised up for just a little water fun! I had gotten a Darth Vader pinata with the hopes of every boy hitting him "hard". I didn't want that silly "pull-string" one.....those are so anti-climatic. Well, the lady at the party store told me we could still hit those. Well, she was right, but on the first hit by Ryan, Darth's helmet came loose from his head. Three kids later......DONE! Kind of a disappointment, but guess the kids soon forgot as they gathered up all the candy. Isn't that what they really want anyways?? We finished off the party with some yummy cake and ice cream. What a joyful time! I feel so blessed to be able to provide my children with a party and fun in our home. I cannot believe this little man of mine is 5 years old! Enjoy the pictures....
Family Birthday Party
We celebrated Reagan's and Ryan's birthdays this past weekend with grandparents and great-grandparents. We feel very blessed for our kids to have some great-grandparents around to spoil and love them. Both sets of Paul's grandparents are alive. Everyone made the trip up to our house for some BBQ Flank Steak and all the fixin's. We also had some homemade ice cream cake again.....Reagan's new favorite food!

The Cornwells Go Camping!!
Well, we did it! It has been almost 3 years since we last went camping on Mt. Rainier in Washington with our dear friends The Rocketts. I was 5 months pregnant with Riley. Paul & I were really excited about going, but also a little apprehensive, since it would be the first time camping with 3 small kids and no friends to help "corral" them away from fire pits and forest ravines. It was such a nice trip. Yes, there were issues of rain and frustrations of kids not minding, and falling down, and lots of dirt, and sleep issues, but looking back, we would do it again. The kids loved it and said they had a wonderful time. They were all sad to leave on Sunday and said they wanted to stay forever! That is a bit extreme for me! Camping is hard for a Type-A, organized, anal-retentive person like myself. But God and I had alot of talks about that while I was there camping. He reminded me to stop and enjoy His creation and to see all of this through my children's little eyes. To be amazed. To relax. Isn't it great to learn lessons?
We went camping at Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana. It was quite a beautiful place and we saw a few waterfalls. No, it was no Snoqualmie Falls in Washington, but it was still very pretty. We saw wild turkeys, dear, rabbits, squirrels, lots of birds, and beautiful butterflies. The kids were very excited about seeing all the different animals. It was a good experience. When we left on Friday, it was pouring down rain. We were wondering what we were getting ourselves into! As we got to the campsite, the rain let up and were we able to set things up. God gave us an open window of time and we felt very blessed. The kids were able to make s'mores and they were on cloud nine. The rain started to pick up again as it was time for bed. It rained all night, with the gentle pitter-patter of the rain falling on our tent lulling us to sleep...eventually. On Saturday, we were blessed with beautiful sunshine and a nice hot day, perfect for hiking and a trip to the pool. We continued to be blessed with two nice days and we left on Sunday, having experienced a wonderful time and already thinking about booking our next camping trip!
For my Bloomington friends, you'll find this funny. As we were playing at the pool, I heard a voice and looked over. There was Marnie Glasscock! I hadn't seen her in over 7 years, since we moved to NC. What a small world! Her parents now live in Madison, IN and they were down there visiting with family. Isn't it funny how God gives us little surprises like that?
I have included lots of pictures from our time there. Riley adapted really well to the environment and did a great job running around, hiking, and playing. She fit in quite well! Here are some highlights:
